reelson.config.json

Everything project-specific lives in one file at the project root. reelson install <project> or reelson init creates it. Every field is optional. The file is validated against a JSON Schema, so editors autocomplete it and a typo is an error with a “did you mean” hint.

Project

Section titled “Project”
Field Default Is
videosDir docs/videos Where <slug>/ folders live, relative to the project root.
language en BCP 47 language of the product UI. Drives <html lang>, plural rules, persona names and the built-in card strings.
locale en-US Browser locale while recording (Accept-Language, Intl formatting).
template classic The stage: a built-in template or <videosDir>/_templates/<name>.
sections poster / steps / wordmark intro, recap (or "none") and outro. See Templates & sections.

Brand

Section titled “Brand”
Field Is
brand.name Wordmark on the cover and the closing card.
brand.tagline Small spaced line under the wordmark. Empty hides it.
brand.eyebrow Label above the recap title.
brand.color Primary accent: numbers, lines, the click ring. Any CSS colour.
brand.colorSoft Lighter accent for gradients.
brand.logo .svg, .png (≥ 340 px tall) or .webp drawn instead of the text wordmark. null uses text.

Strings

Section titled “Strings”

Built in for en, ro, de, fr, es, it, pt, nl, pl, ru, uk, cs, sv, da, nb, fi, hu and tr. Override them with strings:

Plural keys are Intl.PluralRules categories (Romanian, for example, uses one / few / other).

Music

Field Default Is
music.file null One music bed under every video, relative to the project root.
music.lufs -28 Bed loudness under silent footage.
music.lufsUnderNarration -34 Bed loudness under narration or a voice-over.

Voice

Section titled “Voice”

For videos with "voice": true. See Voice-over.

Field Is
voice.provider openai (default), elevenlabs, piper or command.
voice.model, voice.voice The provider’s model and voice.
voice.instructions How to speak: tone, pace, accent (gpt-4o-mini-tts).
voice.speed Speaking rate, 1 = normal.
voice.baseURL openai: a local OpenAI-compatible server.
voice.command command: the program and its arguments.
voice.options Extra request fields or --flags, passed through.
voice.lufs Voice loudness. Default -16.

Record

Section titled “Record”
Field Default Is
record.viewport 1440x900 Browser size in CSS px. Keep 16:10 or 16:9.
record.deviceScaleFactor 2 Capture pixel ratio. 2x keeps text sharp in 1080p and under zooms.
record.extraHTTPHeaders { "X-Demo-Recording": "1" } Sent with every request while recording.
record.hideSelectors [] Extra local-only UI to hide. Common dev toolbars are always hidden.
record.personaDomain example.com Email domain for demo.persona().
record.cursor layer layer: logged and drawn by the video. recorded: filmed into the page.
record.capture screencast screencast: every painted frame → smooth 30 fps. playwright: Playwright’s 25 fps video.
record.mobile.device Pixel 7 Playwright device for the phone take.
record.square.viewport 1080x1080 Browser size for the square take.

Channels

Section titled “Channels”

Where reelson publish uploads. Each key is a channel name used in --to <name>. See Publish to YouTube.
