Make a video

The prompt is the spec. The more of it you give, the fewer guesses the agent makes and the fewer re-renders you need. The agent writes the scenario, records it, checks the frames, builds the composition, words the callouts, runs the checks, renders, and reports the file path with a few frames.

A complete video prompt

Only the feature and the steps are required; drop any line you don't care about. Where: the start URL and the account to log in as. Steps: what the viewer should see happen, in order. Callouts: in the UI's language.

Make a demo video of <FEATURE>.

Where: <URL, area and account>
Steps: 1. <…> 2. <…> 3. <…>
Callouts: <one short imperative per step>
Cards: title "<Title>", subtitle "<Subtitle>"
Emphasis: zoom on <what> during step <n>
Output: mp4 / also gif, portrait, square
Slug: <kebab-case>
A first video for a feature
Make a demo video of searching a customer. Admin area on https://app.test as the admin. Steps: open Customers, type the first customer's first name in the table search, hover the matching row. Callouts: "Open Customers", "Type the name in Search". Title "Find a customer", subtitle "Search any customer from the list". Zoom on the search box while typing. Slug customers-search.
A create flow with a modal
Demo video: creating a customer. Customers → New customer, fill name/email/phone with a persona, save, show the success notification and the new row. One callout per step, zoom on the form while filling. Title "Add a customer". Trim the login away.
A long form, filled top to bottom
Demo video of <signing up for a workspace> on <http://localhost:3000/signup>: fill every field with a persona, tick the terms on camera, submit, land on the dashboard. Use one zoom over all the form's clicks at scale 2 with "follow": true so it pans down the form with the cursor. Title "<Create a workspace>". Slug <signup>.
A two-actor flow
Demo of a document approval: a manager sends a document from the admin area, then the employee accepts it in their personal area. One scenario; switch accounts inside demo.transition() with a "Manager → Employee" card. ~40 s max.
Through an external payment page
Demo of the shop checkout paid by card, no login: product → add to cart → checkout → card payment on the gateway's test page with its test card → cut the 3-D Secure wait → success page. Accept the cookie banner first. Zoom on the payment-method choice and the card form.
Desktop, phone and square in one go
Make a demo video of <FEATURE> on <URL>, steps: <1. … 2. … 3. …>. Record all three takes (--all-takes): desktop, phone and square, with the same marker labels, branching on demo.mobile where the phone UI differs (for example a menu button). Render --all-formats and show me a frame from each version at the second callout. Slug <slug>.
A narrated recording made by hand

For flows that can't be scripted, or when a person narrates. Recorded with OpenScreen.

I recorded <videosDir>/onboarding-tour/recording.mp4 myself with OpenScreen, with voiceover. Build the composition around it: title "Platform tour", callouts at 0:04 "Main menu", 0:12 "Company settings", 0:21 "Invite colleagues". Keep the narration.
A batch of videos
Make reelson demo videos for these features, one per slug, each 15–30 s with 3–6 steps:
- <slug-1>: <feature, start URL, steps>
- <slug-2>: <feature, start URL, steps>
- <slug-3>: <feature, start URL, steps> Use the same account and sections for all of them. Record and check each one before moving on, then run `reelson render --all` and give me a table of slugs, durations and file paths.
